Fostering by Julie Manning

We do not have a kennel or boarding facility.

Almost all of our dogs are initially placed into temporary foster homes, as we search for the perfect forever home for them!

Our foster program allows us to learn about the dog while we search for an adoptive home.  The foster simply provides a warm, safe, loving home environment for the dog.  We prefer than our fosters reside in an area relatively close to the Martinsburg, WV area.

The Foster Application can be found on the left side of our web page, under "Forms/Applications."

PCDR will pay for all vetting while the dog is in foster care.  We use specific, local vets.  The foster simply provides food, water, and a safe, loving home.  We'll provide food, if the foster is unable to do so.  We can also supply a loaner crate, if needed.  The foster should be willing to attend adoption events when available, and will be responsible for taking the foster dog to the vet, if needed.  Typically, fosters have a dog for a few weeks to a few months (depends on the dog).

We can work with you in terms of what kind of dog you'd like to foster.  We understand that some folks like small dogs, or big dogs, or old dogs.  Maybe you can only have a male dog as a foster, or only a female.  That's fine.  Just let us know.  If fostering doesn't work out, we will move the dog to another home as soon as possible.

Our foster families are part of the adoption process, and will get to view any suitable adoption applications before an approval is sent to the applicant.

We do ask that there be no in-tact animals in your home.  Your dogs or cats must be spayed/neutered.

Fostering saves lives.  There's no doubt about that!
